Our Creative Team

Jillian Bridge joined Macarthur Singers originally as the Guest Musical Director for our 30th anniversary celebrations in 2007. Jillian has an extensive history with Macarthur Singers, often performing Lead Violin as part of our concerts, and we are now proud to welcome her officially into the family.

Jillian is a respected violin teacher, conducter and freelance violinist. She has lived in the Campbelltown area since 1989 and is active in the community. Jillian studied violin in England with Ian Riley and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sydney University with a major in music. She recently retired from the Fisher's Ghost Youth Orchestra where she was the conductor for 15 years. She has taught chamber music at the Sydney Conservatorium Access Centre. She has been a string tutor at many music camps including the State Education Department Music Camps and the Schools Spectaculars at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Jillian currently runs the string programme at Mount Saint Joseph's Girls High School at Milperra. She teaches violin at Bald Face Public School and Chevalier College as well as having a large number of private students. She is a regular member of the local Baroque group Les Amis and the orchestra The Occasional Performing Sinfonia. She also plays for musical societies in Sydney. Jillian is a founding member of the Macarthur String Quartet, which began in 1985.

Kelvin has been Macarthur Singers' resident accompanist and performance pianist since 2006. Macarthur Singers is very fortunate to possess the talents of such a gifted musician.

Kelvin Russell has lived in the Macarthur area for over 20 years. He studied at the NSW Conservatorium of Music with Dennis Hennig. He is a freelance piano/music teacher and has had wide experience as an accompanist for musical and theatrical societies, as well as extensive Eisteddfod work.

For over 6 years he has worked as a pianist in Sydney clubs, hotels and restaurants as well as working with Campbelltown Theatre Group on such shows as "Chicago", "Camelot" and "Hello Dolly." Kelvin currently plays with a Christian/Gospel Rock band and is a composer (mostly classical), arranger and transcriber. He has an interest in all types of music, but especially loves classical and jazz.

While our resident accompanist Kelvin Russell takes a well deserved rest for the first half of 2008, the role of Macarthur Singers accompanist has been placed in the very capable hands of local pianist Lachlan Glen.

Lachlan commenced formal piano studies at the age of six with Maria Cartwright. He successfully completed his A.Mus.A. piano examination in 2005 whilst studying with Dr. Marilyn Meier-Kapavale. At the age of 16 he was accepted into a Bachelor of Music programme with the University of Southern Queensland, majoring in Piano Performance and most recently was awarded the L.Mus.A. in 2007

Also an award-winning composer, Lachlan's most successful work, Daintree Overture, was performed by the Fisher's Ghost Youth Orchestra at the inaugural Aurora Contemporary Music Festival in 2006.

Earlier this year, Lachlan was invited by New York concert pianist and teacher Dr. Min Kwon, to travel to the USA and study with her at Rutgers University, to prepare for his audition into the Julliard School in 2009. He will commence the 3rd year of his B.Mus. in New Jersey, studying with Dr. Kwon, in September 2008. He has also been invited as one of 20 pianists to participate in Piano.Fest.Austria.2008 - a two-week course of intensive training in the music of W. A. Mozart. This will take place in July-August 2008.
