Time To Get Back To School, Work and CHOIR

The holidays are over and after a well deserved rest from a monumental year of intense rehearsals and performances in 2007, Macarthur Singers are now fully rejuvenated and are in preparation for what we hope will be an even bigger year.

Rehearsals start back on Tuesday January 29th, the day after the first committee meeting of the year on the 28th.

As we will now be beginning rehearsal on a new program, if you've ever thought about joining the choir - NOW IS THE TIME TO JOIN. We love seeing new faces and hearing new voices to be a part of the family here at Macarthur Singers.

Broadway Comes To Camden In November

In November Macarthur Singers will be breaking down the barricades, getting to the church on time, dancing all night to Alexander's ragtime band, and for us, stars will stop where they are... Are you still with us? Then you'll love our concert in November, where we will be performing a collection of show tunes from some of Broadway's classics.

 Sell-Out Success At Mater Dei

Mater Dei Chapel was overflowing with music, as well as audience members, on Sunday the 12th of August, when Macarthur Singers presented its 30th Anniversary concert 'Gloria!'. The music, including, Vivaldi's Gloria, Handel's Hallelujah Chorus, Rutter's Magnificat and selected works from Mozart and others, represented on a self-indulgent level, some of the favourite works which the members of the choir have enjoyed singing over the years.

The thunderous applause from the audience supported the apt choice of repertoire. Sales of pre-purchased tickets for the concert were at an unprecedented high. This is the first time that the choir has offered tickets at a discount rate for tickets sold prior to the event. This trial has proven successful and will hopefully be implemented at future concerts.

Macarthur Singers wish to offer their sincere thanks to the orchestra for their superb support, to the wonderfully talented Kelvin Russell for being such a devoted accompanist and especially to Jillian Bridge, our 'Guest' Musical Director, who (hopefully) soon, will more than a guest in the life of Macarthur Singers.

To all those who attended, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude for your support; and apologies if you did not get a seat.

After many months of preparation we are very proud to be able to bring you our completely redesigned website. With the new look comes many new features to enable us to keep in close contact with our audiences.

Meet the people behind and in front of MacSingers, from our creative team, to the representative committee, and of course, all of our singers!

We encourage you to sign up to our Mailing List, so we can provide you with information about upcoming concerts. We now even have our own MySpace page, so you can become our friend. You can also see and hear us in our brand new media galleries.

As always, we love hearing from people who love music as much as we do, so drop by and sign our Guestbook or drop us a line here.

Although, perhaps the most important addition to the website is the inclusion of a 'Members Only Portal', where members of Macarthur Singers can be kept up-to-date and be provided with a vast array of resources.

Guest Musical Director For 2007 Is Jillian Bridge

Macarthur Singers is thrilled to begin the new year by announcing Jillian Bridge as our Guest Musical Director for 2007. It has been an unsettled year for the choir, with the unexpected departure of our new Musical Director. Michael Maë took over the direction of the choir last year and unfortunately is no longer able to continue.

But a long-time friend and supporter of the choir, Jillian Bridge, has stepped into the breach. Jillian is a familiar face on the Macarthur musical scene. She conducted the Fisher’s Ghost Orchestra for many years and is a member of the justly famous Macarthur Strings. She has made the transition from instruments to voices with her usual aplomb.
